Understanding Homelessness and How We Can Help
Homelessness can happen to anyone. A variety of circumstances—poverty, escaping an abusive relationship, reintegrating into society after prison, or transitioning back to civilian life from the army—can leave individuals without a secure place to call home. With the growing demand for housing, vulnerable individuals find it increasingly difficult to access and retain accommodation. One of the biggest barriers is the lack of funds for a deposit, making it nearly impossible for many to take the first step toward securing stable housing. This issue affects people from all backgrounds and walks of life.
How Ashford Place Supports the Homeless
At Ashford Place, we encounter individuals experiencing homelessness every day. All of them have extremely limited financial resources, making it challenging for them to be considered for housing. Despite not receiving specific funding for this vital work, we continue to assist those referred to us by local councils and other agencies.
A simple deposit can be the key to transforming a homeless person’s life. Securing a place to live allows them to establish stability, rebuild their confidence, and work toward a brighter future as a valued member of society.
How You Can Help
We are raising funds to create a deposit loan scheme that will help individuals move into secure accommodation. Our goal is to raise £10,000, which will provide housing deposits for at least ten people, giving them the opportunity to start anew.
Every contribution, big or small, can make a significant difference. Your support can give someone a lifeline - a chance to escape sofa-surfing or the streets and regain their independence. Homeless individuals are not a burden; they are people, just like us, who deserve safety and stability.
